Last week, as I was pondering what to do with myself, my partner suggested I write a blog post. I dismissed the idea, making the excuse that I’m currently focusing my energies on my health, (more on that later), and not creative ‘obligations’. Yet, just a few days later I found myself wanting to write…. apparently he was onto something after all! (Just like exercise, the idea of writing is always more of a barrier than the actual reality of it.) Equally contrarily, I have decided I want to undertake a rather substantial creative project this month! So just call me plain hypocritical.
The reason I initially wanted to prioritise my health was that I’ve had two colds in the past four weeks. While they may not have been the same cold, I never fully recovered from the first before I reinfected myself. This made me adamant that I would take better care of myself! I do plan to try, but after a few days of not-much-action, I’ve been reminded that I’m most motivated when I have just that ‘that-little-bit-too-much’ to do. Not in a stressful way – but by having a fun, chunky project with a deadline. Deadline equalling disciplined use of time!
This brings us to my plan for March! Four weeks, four projects, and, potentially, four unique items listed on my Etsy shop come April! Fear not, this isn’t a hairbrained get-rich-quick scheme, rather, an exercise in making for the fun of it! Throughout February, I dipped my toes a few times into such crafting and enjoyed the liberation, so that’s what this is about. Pushing my making skills to give my brain something to chew on, while providing me with some focused time to relax and consciously spend my time. I’ve already selected my project inspirations and I’m keen to get stuck into these!
I haven’t decided whether I’ll post about the projects yet… but considering I missed February’s post, I’ll wrap things up here by sharing a few bits and pieces!

A Random Day of Making
This little ferret is Kristoffwaltz, a felt toy I made in December. For some reason, I decided he needed a hat stand for his scarf … and, of course, a new hat. Looking pretty spiffy!
A Return to Sims!
After eleven years of constant use, I finally updated my MacBook(!) … and this unintentionally led me to test out Sims 4! :D I can confirm, it’s been a hoot.
Digital Garden
This was an example of when you hear of a concept and it sounds terribly exciting, but then you realise the actuality is in-depth and rather dry… so you decide to give it your own spin. I recently heard of Digital Gardens for the first time and was immediately drawn to the idea of charting connections between the content that captured your attention and interest.
In the true practice of this concept, I believe you are supposed to delve into what the connections are and why it spoke to you… but honestly I’m just interested in the threads that lead you from one interest to another. A neat way to keep a record of the things that you find interesting! I gave it visual twist using Procreate and here is the map of the digital content I found most engaging this February.
Final Thought!
As I finish up this post, I think I’ve tentatively decided to use IG to post about these four little projects. I don’t think there will be enough content for individual blog posts, but it would be good to hold myself accountable… so we’ll see!
